Wayanad Landslide: Seeing the terrible havoc of nature, image video | landslide struck around 1 AM on July 30, 2024, during heavy rainfall

 The  Wayanad  Landslide  affected   Mundakkal,  Churalamala,  Attamala  and  Noolappuzha   villages.

   As of now at least 56 people have been confirmed dead due to the landslides, with many others feared trapped under debris

   A crucial bridge connecting Chooralmala and Mundakkal was completely washed away severely hampering rescue operations and leaving hundreds stranded

   The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) along with local authorities and the Indian Army are actively engaged in rescue efforts but continuous rain is complicating their efforts

   Many families have been moved to relief camps while approximately 400 families remain stranded due to damaged infrastructure

  The region received over 300 mm of rain in the last 24 hours, exacerbating the risk of further landslides and flooding

  Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured all possible assistance  including compensation of ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased
