BSNL free internet will be available from the Starlink Elon Musk BSNL Department of Telecommunications (DoT) decided to approve the license

Elon Musk's satellite internet company Starlink has received Global Mobile Personal Communication by Satellite (GMPCS) license to provide services in India.

BSNL Department of Telecommunications (DoT) decided to approve the license application of Starlink in September 2023

Once approved, Starlink will compete with other telephone companies such as Jio Airtel and Vodafone, which had tried hard to cancel Star Link's GMPCS license

The government wants to ensure that user data in Starlink from countries bordering India remains within the country due to security reasons.

After obtaining the license, Starlink will need to set up local gateways and ensure that satellite beams land only in India.

The state government is directly partnering with BSNL telecom operator Starlink to provide free internet.

The entry of Starlink and other telephone companies could greatly help BSNL by forcing private telcos to offer more affordable plans.

Satellite Internet, which relies on cables, uses signals from satellites in orbit. It can provide excellent connectivity in remote areas

Starlink has the advantage of having already launched more than 4000 LEO satellites plus OneWeb will have the first-mover advantage in India
